Jefferson Miller – Documentarian & Cinematographer

Jefferson Miller is an award-winning filmmaker and cinematographer with over 20 years experience. His extensive credits include Twin Towers, which won an Academy Award ® for Best Documentary Short in 2003.

He has filmed projects for PBS, BBC, Channel 4 London, A&E Biography, Discovery Channel, History Channel and National Geographic. Among them: “Precious” with Dir. Lee Davis and Sapphire Sep ’09; How To Live Forever ’07-’09 (Hamptons Film Fest. Finalist -Wexler Films). Locked Up Abroad – Brazil March-April ’09 (National Geographic Series); Only When I Dance (Tribecca Film Festival Finalist 2008-Tigerlily,U.K.); The Federalists- America’s Top Architects: An Oral History ‘07- ’09 (GSA – PBS); Mega-Carrier (Discovery Channel); John Ford/John Wayne (American Masters – PBS); Brian Wilson’s Smile (BBC Manchester U.K.); Blair’s War (Frontline – PBS/WGBH); Burden of Innocence (Frontline – PBS/WGBH); I.M. Pei – The Suzhou Project (PBS Special); and Still Riding – Rescue 2 NYFD (Discovery Channel).

Recently completed feature productions that Miller filmed include: Dad’s In Heaven With Nixon (airing on Showtime Networks fall 2010); Phil Ochs: There But For Fortune (2011 release – First Look Films); and SoLa: Louisiana Water Stories. Earlier, he directed and shot Capital of Earth:The Maroons of Jamaica which received the top honor at NY’s Margaret Mead Film Festival.

Jefferson Miller has directed and shot national commercials and promos for: Conviction (NBC) , The Apprentice (NBC National Spots /Regal Theater Promos); The Daily Show with Jon Stewart; The Maury Povich Show; Dillard’s; and People Magazine.

His production experience has taken him throughout Myanmar, China, Japan, Korea, South America, the Caribbean, Europe, Mexico and much of the United States. Mr. Miller maintains studios in New York and Los Angeles. He is a PADI Certified Scuba Diver, Single-Engine Rated Pilot, and Tae Kwon Do Black Belt.
