Arthur Gorson – Producer

Arthur Gorson was born and raised in New York City, where he established a career in music, film and concert production. His photographic work with artists such as Bob Marley is widely known. He was lured to Los Angeles to take a position as feature film producer for Dreamstreet, Inc., with offices at Universal and Paramount Studios. He developed projects with prominent directors such as Academy Award® Winner Taylor Hackford, Andre Konchalovsky, and Tony Scott.

His feature film credits as producer include: “Cronos” by Guellermo Del Toro (winner Gran Prix, Critic’s Week, Cannes Film Festival); “Better Watch Out” by Monte Hellman; and “Cabeza de Vaca” by Nicolas Echevarria (world premiere in competition at the Berlin Film Festival).

He received an Executive Producer credit on Timur Bekmambetov’s landmark fantasy film “Night Watch,” which broke all box office records in Russia, and led to Timur directing “Wanted” for Universal Studios; a producer credit for his role in “The Harder They Come” director Perry Henzell’s recently completed feature “No Place Like Home”; and a producer credit on Monte Hellman’s latest feature “Road To Nowhere” (which won Hellman a Golden Lion at the 2010 Venice Film Festival for his body of work). His documentary film “The Roots of Reggae,” a festival favourite, had it’s U.S. Premiere closing night at the 2009 Palm Beach Int’l Film Festival. Mr. Gorson currently has several feature projects in development including: “Curse of the Golden Idol” written by Michael Thomas (“Scandal”, “The Hunger”, “Ladyhawke”, “Back Beat”, “B Monkey”, “The Devil’s Double”, etc.).

Adding short form production to his portfolio, Mr. Gorson enjoyed the fast pace, rapid gratification, and creative demands of Commercials (at first teaming with Academy Award® winning cinematographer Guillermo Navarro.) High-end rock videos were soon to follow. An eye for talent resulted in production work with young directors such as Zach Snyder and Patricia Riggen. A lucky meeting with director Dean Karr led to Marilyn Manson’s “Sweet Dreams” and a continuing run of challenging and cutting edge videos. After production stints at RSA-USA (Ridley Scott and Associates) and A Band Apart, he became a founding partner and producer at The Mine, LLC, where he supervised commercial, music video, and film production (2001 – 2006). He is currently Executive Producer at Wild Indigo, LLC. (www.wildindigo.tv)

In addition to his film credits, Mr. Gorson has produced over 100 broadcast commercials and music videos for major clients. Combining his film and music expertise, he has recently produced a series of top selling long-form DVDs, featuring live concert, featurette, and original film material.

His work has received international recognition, including: Saturn Fantasy Film Award: MuchMusic Award (Canada) for “Video of the Year” and “Best Rock Video”; VMA/MTV Awards; Billboard Awards; MVPA Awards; MTV Europe; Kodak Music Video Award. He is the recipient of multiple RIAA gold and platinum records, as well as the BVA (British Video Association) award for DVD sales.
